This is the bottom storey of the house after the top storey was removed. The roof was remodelled, however, the floors of the upper storey remain below the lowered roofline. The rosewood bannisters formed the handrail to the farm bridge over the Matarawa Stream for many years and can be seen in one of Violet Whiteman's four paintings of Cherry Bank
